About the Australian Association of Podiatric Surgeons
The Australian Association of Podiatric Surgeons (AAPS) is a professional body which provides representation for Podiatric Surgeons in Australia.
The objects for which the AAPS is established are to:
Advance the practice of podiatric surgery in Australia;
Act as an authority and adviser in regards to conditions of the foot, ankle and related structures, and the specialty of podiatric surgery;
Foster and maintain the highest standard of surgical practice and ethics in podiatric surgery;
Provide access to ongoing education for podiatric surgeons;
Confer in accordance with regulations prescribed by the Board the title of Fellow of the Australian Association of Podiatric Surgeons;
AAPS membership consists of Podiatric Surgeons (Fellows) and affiliate members (trainees)

Governance of the Australian Association of Podiatric Surgeons
The Australian Association of Podiatric Surgeons is structured as a public company limited by guarantee which is bound by a constitution.
AAPS is governed by a Council elected by Fellows of the Association. The Council is responsible for the development and implementation of strategy, and to manage accountability of its members. The Council also has the power to make, amend and repeal all such regulations as it deems necessary or desirable for the proper conduct and management of the Association, the regulation of its affairs and the furtherance of its objectives.
